A cult film by the famous Swedish director in recent seasons has dazzled audiences at the National Theatres in Copenhagen and Stockholm and two years ago received a standing ovation in the USA. Sweden at the beginning of the 20th century. A great family saga through the eyes of two child heroes – a brother and a sister. The world of theatre with its freedom, openness, passion and idealism is confronted with asceticism, mysticism and strict rules. This myriad of colour, social, generational and diversely opinionated characters is a juicy astronomical clock of the fates of people who do not give up because they are close. They survive and even celebrate life in all its bitterly sweet forms. Pragmatism versus fantasy. Asceticism versus tolerance. A wide array of stories that deserve reesurgence, for us to better understand ourselves and each other.
